March 30 2014. The closing ceremony of training program entitled “Developing geospatial applications for android devices” was organized at Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering. The training which was held during 23-28 Feb covered introductory topics of android programming with emphasis on location-aware application. It was targeted to fourth year students of Geomatics Engineering.

Participants demonstrated their interesting mobile apps during presentation. They presented a short introduction to their apps. There were five different projects; viz. Crime Report, Fire Station Maps, GPSdriod, KUcall and POI-Picker. These projects used OpenStreetMap and GPS functions of Android smart phones. Among five projects, KUCall, an app which automatically makes telephone calls to respective office when user selects its overlay marker on map, was awarded the best app. This app can be useful during emergency situation to contact nearest hospital, police station and fire station by using map.
Asst. Professor Prachand Man Pradhan acting HOD of DCGE and Asst. Professor Subash Ghimire awarded gifts and certificates to the participants. In his closing remarks Asst. Professor Prachand Man Pradhan highlighted importance of training program. He also advised all participants to continuously learn and innovate.
