Geospatial Lab successfully simulated the case of tweet reporting using hashtags for earthquake on 10 April, 2015 here at Dhulikhel. As a disaster simulation, this is the first of it’s kind using social media in Nepal using standard hashtag, location services and the image attachment. The simulation has been arranged as a field reporting lead by Ram Shrestha and Suresh Manandhar to report response, need and impact. Moreover, a control station was controlled by Shashish Maharjan and Suman Baral to deal with the issues related to server and the tweet streaming.
More than 15o tweets were published in an hour with more than 85 percent geotagged and 75 percent with image attachment.
The analysis of the simulation will be out soon.
